The Parable of Wise And Foolish builders
Jesus said, Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. Not every one that said unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:15-27) And he spoke a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? Shall they not both fall into the ditch? The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. And why behold you the mote that is in your brother's eye, but perceive not the beam that is in your own eye? Either how can you say to your brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in your eye, when you yourself behold not the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of your own eye, and then shall you see clearly to pull out the mote that is in your brother's eye. For a good tree brings not forth corrupt fruit; neither does a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. And why call you me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and dug deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that hears, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great. (Luke 6: 39-49) A wise builder builds a house on the foundation of the Lord. A wise builder's foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ. A wise builder everlasting foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ. A foolish builder without a foundation builds a house upon the earth. It is a house is built on man's method of vanity and pride. A foolish builder knows not the Lord . Jesus said , Love your neighbour as yourself. We have neighbours all round us. Not all of the neighbours have the Lord in their hearts. Love will turn their heart over to the Lord Jesus Christ. Forgiveness is always by the grace of God and based on Christ's atonement. Since God has such an abundance of forgiving Spirit, it is expected that the believer should have a forgiving spirit. God has already forgiven so much. (Eph. 4:32) The Lord tells that in asking for forgiveness , we must always say, As we forgive We are to reconciled with our neighbors before we offer gift at the altar. God does not forgive an unforgiving spirit. Our hearts must reach out for our neighbors in love. A foolish builder can become a wise builder when he turns to the Lord Jesus Christ as his foundation. He will no longer be a selfish man. He will have the Jesus Christ in his heart. Love will make you wise. Wisdom comes from the Lord. For those who seek wisdom , God will give them abundant wisdom.
