Samson
The Lord intended to rule the nation of Israel
through righteous men, who made known God's will
to His people.
Moses was a faithful servant and was Israel's leader.
Joshua was also a faithful servant of the Lord.
Those people who succeeded them were leaders known
as judges.
But there were times when apparently no man could
be found to act as a judge. And " every man did
that was right in his own eyes"(Judges 21;25).
The period of unfaithfulness was one of violence and
unrest. Tribal jealousies, and oppression by the
Canaanites weakened Israel . And idolatry sapped
the spiritual strength of the people.
But there were times when apparently no man could
be found to act as a judge And every man did that
was right in his own eyes ;¨ (Judges 21:25)
The period of unfaithfulness was one of violence and
unrest. Tribal jealousies , and the oppression by the
Canaanites weakened Israel. And idolatry sapped the
spiritual strength of the people.
When the people forsook the Lord , disaster would strike
them.
When people would repent and call upon
the Lord for mercy, the Lord would raise
up a deliverer or judge.
As long as the judge lived, there would
be a period in which the people were faithful
to the Lord. And there would be peace among
the people because they rested in the Lord.
And the Lord would defeat their enemy and
give them rest.
Then when the judge died , another generaion
would arise and go into idolatry. And the whole
cycle would start over again.
Israel's survival depends on Israel's faith
in the Lord.
THE BIRTH OF SAMSON
(Judges 13:1-25)
And the children of Israel did evil again in the
sight of the Lord. And the Lord delivered them into
the hands of the Philistines forty years.
And there was a certain man of Zorah of the family
of Danites, whose name was Manoah. And his wife was
barren, and bare not.
And the angel of the Lord appeared unto the woman,
and said unto her,
Behold now, you are barren, and bear not ; but you
shall conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore , please,
and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any
unclean thing.
For you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no rasor shall
come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazarite unto
God from the womb. And he shall begin to deliver Israel
out of the hand of the Philstines.
Then the woman came and told her husband,
"A man of God came unto me , and his countenance was like
the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible; but
I asked him not whence he was, neither told me his name.
But he said unto me ,
" You shall conceive, and bear a son ; no drink nor wine,
nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing; for the
child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day
of his death.
Then Manoah prayed to the Lord,
O my Lord, let the man of God which you did sent
come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto
the child that shall be born.
And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Manoah. God did
what Manoah asked. And the angel of the Lord came again
unto the woman as she sat in the field; But her husband
was not with her.
And the woman made haste, and ran .She showed her husband,
and said,
Behold , the man has appeared unto me, that came unto me
the other day.
And Manoah arose , and went after his wife. And he came to
the man and said to the man ,
Are you the man that spoke to the woman ?
The man said,
I am
And Manoah said,
Let your words come to pass. How shall we order
the child, and how shall we do unto him ?
God will guide those people who desire to know their
duty. God will teach those people who seek Him .
And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah,
Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.
She may not eat of any thing that comes of the vine,
neither let her drink wine or strong drink , nor eat
any unclean thing. All that I commanded her let her
observe.
It is our duty to find out exactly what God wants us
to do.
When the words of the Lord come true, what myust the
boy do? What kind of life must he lead ? Your wife must
be sure to do everything that the Lord has told her.
She must not eat anything that comes from the vine.
She must not drink wine, or beer, or any forbidden food.
She must do everything that the Lord has told her.
And Manoah said unto the angel of the Lord,
Please , let us detain you, until we shall have made
ready a kid for you.
And the angel of the Lord said unto Manoah,
Though you detain me, I will not eat your bread; and
until the Lord.
For Manoah knew not he was an angel of the Lord. And he
said , What is your name ,that when your sayings come
true we may do you honour ?
And the angel of the Lord said unto him,
Why ask you thus aftermy name, seeing it is secret ?
God in His wisdom has given full directions concerning our
duty . These are the things that we should know. God
knows what is good for us and what is bad for us.
There are secret things which belong not to us. We
must be content with what God wants us to know. The
Lord makes Himself known as far as is needful for us.
So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering and offered it
upon a rock unto the Lord. He offered the offerings to the
rock altar to the Lord who works wonders.
When the flames went up toward heaven from off the altar,
the angel of the Lord ascended in the flame of the altar.
And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their
to the ground.
But the angel of the Lord did no more appear to Manoah and
to his wife.
And Manoah knew he was angel of the Lord. Then Manoah said
to his wife,
We shall surely die , because we have seen God.
But his wife said to him,
If the Lord was pleased to kill us, He would not
have received a burnt-offering and a meat offering at
our hands, neither would He have shown us all these
things, nor would as at this time have told us such
things as these.
Without faith in Christ ,your services are offensive
smoke. But in Christ , your service is acceptable
flame.
When Christ sacrificed himself for us, he ascended
in the flame of hiis own offering. God is satisfied
with Christ's sacrifice. By his own blood , Christ
entered into the Holy place. Christ has obtained eternal
redemption for the believers.
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his
own blood Christ entered in once into the holy place,
having obtained eternal redemption for us. (Heb 3:12)
Manoah had great fear . He thought they were going to
die because they had seen the Lord.
But his wife had great faith in the Lord. There is no fear
in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear
is torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love.
Manoah's wife love the Lord her God with all her heart,
with all her soul, with all her mind, and with all her
strength. And she knew that the Lord loves them.
And she trusted in the Lord. She assured her husband not
to fear because the Lord loved them. If God wanted them to
perish, He would not have blessed them with His favour. If
God wanted them to perish, He would not have done what He had
done for them.
If God wanted to forsake them,He would not have manifested
Himself to them.
If the Lord were pleased to kill them, He would not have
received a burnt-offering and a meat-offering at their hands.
The acceptance of the sacrifice and the anouncement of their
baby was proof that God was please with Manoah and his wife.
And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson.
And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times
in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.
The Lord gave His Spiirt to Smason. Those folks are
blessed in whom the Spirit of the Lord begins to work
in the days of their childhood.
Samson drank no wine or strong drink. And the Lord blessed
him with strength and courage. The Spirit of God was moving
him.Samson was not filled with wine, but was filled with the
Spirit of God.
Samson was not remarkable in his physique. Samson's power was
the result of his faith in his Lord.
SAMSON'S MARRIAGE FEAST
(Judges 14:1-20)
And Samson went Timnath, and saw a woman
in Timanath of the daughters of the
Philistines. And he came up , and told his
and his mother , and said,
I have seen a woman in Timnath of the
daughters of the Philistines; Now therefore
get her for me to wife.
Then his father and mother said unto him,
Is there never a woman of your brothers or among
all my people that you go to take a wife of the
uncircumcised Philistines?
And Samson said to his father,
Get her for me; for she pleases me well.
But his father and mother knew not that it was of the
Lord that he sought an occasion against the Philistines;
for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
Though Samson drank not wine nor strong drink, and ate no
unclean food, he was carried with passion.
Neither shall you make marriages with them. Your
daughther you shall not give unto his son, nor his
daughter shall you take unto your son. For they will
turn away your son from following me, that they may serve
other gods ; so will the anger of the Lord kindled against,
and destroy you suddenly.(Deuteronomy 7:3-4)
Samson's choice of a wife was only guided by his eyes. This
great mistake brought much misery to him.As a Nazarite, he
was separated unto the Lord. He disobeyed the Lord, when he
allow his heart to sesire a woman who was an unbeliever.
His parents were disturbed that their son should ask to marry
a Philistine girl. And they tried to dissuade him from yoking
himself unequally with unbelievers.
God has given man a free will. God does not force any one.
we must come to him willingly by faith.
God left Samson to follow after his own lust . Samson's
ungodly behavior brought misery to himself. The Lord knew
that through trials, temptations, failures, sorrow, and
victories , Samson would become the man that God wanted
him to be.
And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according
to His purpose.
Many people make the mistake in thinking that great men of
God have extraordinary qualities of courage and physical
strength. The gret people of God are not different from
ordinary people, except their faith in the Lord.
All have sinned, and come short of the glory
of God. (Romans 3:23)
These great men have sinned, but they have repented from
their sins.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and
the truth is not in us. (1John 1:8)
For the wages of sin is death ; but the gift of God is
eternal life. (Romans 6:23)
repent therefore , and be converted , that your sins may be blotted out. (Acts 3:19)
Jesus said,
Except you repent , you shall perish.(Luke 13:3)
Let us not judge Samson , because e are not any better than
him.God judges our hearts. Every secret things in our hearts
will be judged. The passion and desires of Samson's heart
acted out openly.
Jesus said,
You have heard that it was said by them of old time. You
shall not commit adultery . But I say unto you, that
whosover looks on a woman to lust after her has committed
adultery with her already in his heart.(Matt 5:27-28)
The act will follow when the opportunity occurs. The
examples of Samson was written down for us to warn us
not to sin as Samson had done.
Then Samson , his father and mother went down to Timnath.
And they came to the vineyards of Timnath; and behold, a
young lion roared against Samson. And the Spirit of God
came mnightly upon Samson.
And Samson tore the lion apain with his bare hands, as if
it was a young goat. But Samson told not his father or his
mother what he had done.
The source of samson's physical strength was the Spirit of
God who empowered Samson. The Lord had allowed Samson to
know what he could do in the strength of the Spirit of God.
And Samson went down, and talk to the Philistine
woman. And she pleased Samson's lust. And after a time
he returned to take her. On the way he left the road to
look at the lion that he had killed. He was surprised to
find a swarm of bees and some honey inside the dead body.
And Samson took the honey in his hands, and went on eating.
And he came to his father and his mother. Samson gave some
honey to them. They did eat. But Samson told not them that
he had taken the honey out of the carcass of the lion. This
is a violation of the Nazirite oath, which forbade the
contact with a carcass .
So his father went down unto the woman. And Samson made there
a feast; for so used the young men to do. This was the
custom mong the young men. They had a wild party.
And it came to pass , when the Philistines saw him that they
brought thirty companions to be with him.
And Samson said unto them,
I will now put forth a riddle unto you. If you can
certainly declare it to me within seven days of the feast,
then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of
garments.
And they said to him,
Put forth your riddle so we may hear it.
And he said to them,
Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the
strong came forth sweetness.
And they could not in three days expound the riddle.
They could not solve the riddle.
And it came to pass on the seventh day that they said to
Samson's wife,
Entice your husband, that he may declare unto us the
riddle, lest we burn you and your father's house with fire.
Have you called us to take what we have ? Is it not so ?
And Samson's wife wept before him, and said,
You do but hate me, and love me not. You have put forth
a riddle unto the children of my people, and have not told
it to me.
And he said unto her,
Behold, I have not told it to my father and mother ,and
shall I tell it to you?
And she wept before him the seven days while the feast
lasted.
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her,
because she lay sore upon him.
And she told the riddle to the children of her people.
And the men of the city said unto Samson on the evening of
the seventh day,
What sweeter than honey ? And what is stronger than a
lion ?
And Samson said unto them,
If you had not plowed with my cow, you had not found
out my riddle.
And the Spirit of God came upon Samson. And Samson went
down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them . He took
their spoil and gave the change of garments unto them that
expounded the riddle.
Samson was furious about what had happened. When his anger
was kindled, Samson went up to his father's house.
But Samson's wife was given to his companion, whom he had
used as his best man.
His wife was given to the man who had been his man at
the wedding.
Worldly alliances are the results of the wiles of the
devil. And it will always bring failure and frustration.
Failure came upon Samson when he joined himself with the
world.
His betrothed wife deceived him . The philistines outwitted
him>And he lost his wife.
A worldly wife , or a worldly friend, is to a believer
as a concealed enemy, who will seek every opportunity
to betray him.
SAMSON'S TERRIBLE ACT
It is so strange to find Samson classed with DAvid, Moses,
Jacob, and Joseph .The deeds of Samson seem to be so savage.
But Samson was classed as a man of faith along with Abraham, Isaac, Joseph, enoch, and Gideon.(Hebrews 11:23)
The Lord fulfils Himself in many ways.
The Lord is watching and waiting in mercy for His people .
The moment they cry out to Him, God will answer them
immediately with deliverance.
The Lord always finds the right person to do the right work
according to His will.
When the Lord wants apostles , He calls fishermen. He knows
where to find them.
Samson was a good natured person who was full of jokes He
was willing to forgive and forget. And he tried to come back
to the woman who betrayed him.
Some time later Samson went to visit his wife during the
wheat harvest . He brought a gift of a young goat to be
given to her.
He said to her father,
I want to go to my wife's room.
But her father would not let him inside the house.
Her father said,
I thought that you had utterly hated her. Therefore
I gave her to your companion. Is not her younger sister
more beautiful than her?
Samson's wife was given to his companion. And the woman's
father suggested that Samson should marry her sister.
And Samson said concerning them,
Now shall I be more blameless than the Philistines,
though I do them a displeasure.
Samson felt this time he was not going to be responsible
for his actions against the Philistines.
And Samson went and caught three hundred foxes. He took
firebrands, and turned tail to tail, and put a firebrand
in the midst between two tails.
And when he had set the brands on fire, he let them go
into the standing corn of the Philistines. In this
way he burnt the corn that had been harvested and the corn
that was still in the fields and the olive ordards.
Then the Philistines said,
Who has done this?
And they answered,
Samson , the son in law of the Timnite.
Samson was angry because the Timnite had taken his wife
and given her to his companion. He felt that the Philistines
were responsible for his lost.
And the Philistines came up and burnt her and her father
with fire. The Philistines had threatened Samson's wife that
they would burn her and her father's house. To save herself,
she
betrayed her husband. The thing she feared and tried
to avoid, came upon her. She and her father along with their
house were burnt with fire by the Philistines, her
countrymen.
THE JAWBONE
Then the Philistines went up, and camped in Judah, and spread
themselves in Lehl. And the men of Judah said,
Why are you came up against us ?
And they answered,
To bind samson are we come up, to do to him as he has
done to us.
Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of
the rock Etam, and said to Samson,
Know you not that the Philistines are rulers over us ?
What is this that you have done unto us?
And he said,
As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
And they said unto him,
We are come down to bind you , so that we may deliver
you unto the hands of the Philistines.
And Samson said unto them,
Swear unto me that you will not fall unto me
yourselves.
And they spake unto him, saying,
No . But we will bind you fast, and deliver you unto
their hands. But surely we not kill you.
And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him
up from the rock.
Sin dispirits men. Sin deceives men.The men of Judah
blamed Samson for what he had done to the Philistines.
Samson was fighting the enemies for them. They themselves
should be fighting the enemies ,and not putting Samson down
for his good works. Thus our Lord Jesus Christ did many good
works. And because of these good works the religious people
were ready to stone him.
And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against
Samson.
The Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon Samson, and the
cords that were upon his arms became as flax that burnt with
fire. And the bands loosed from off his hands.
And he found a new jaebone of an ass ., and put forth his
hand, and hook it, and slew a thousand Philistines.
And Samson said,
With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the
jaw bone of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
Thus Christ triumped over the evil powers of darkness that
shouted against Him.
The Lord uses the weak things to confound the things that
are mighty. God uses the things that are not to bring to
nought the things that are.A little thing such as a jawbone
of an ass is sufficient to accomplish a great result.
And Samson wasvery thirsty , and called on the Lord and said,
You have given this great deliverance into the hand of your severant. And now I shall die for thirst, and fall into the
hand of the uncircumcised?
But God opened a hallow place in the ground there at Lehi.
And the water came out of it.
And Samson drank it and begun to feel much better. When he
drunk, his Spirit came again, and he revived.
Samson gloried too much in his own strength. The Lord knows
how to put us in our places no matter how great we have
become so that we will be humble before Him.
It was in the height of his triumph that this great thirst
came upon Samson. Even his strong arms could not save him.
Samson was driven to ask the Lord to save him. The Lord
often reminds us that our victories and success are God's
good gifts.
The children of Israel submitted to Samson whom they had
betrayed.
The Lord was with Samson . And Samson became the judge of
the children of Israel. And he judged Israel in the days of
the Philistines twenty years.
SAMSON AND DELILAH
And it came to pass afterward, that Samson lusted after
a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
And the lords of the Philistines came up yo her, and
said unto her,
Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lies,
and by what m,eans we may prevail against him that we
may bind him to afflict him. And we will give you everyone
of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
Samson, to his undoing, sought love outside the limits set
by God. Samso once again fell for a worldly Philistine
woman.
The Philistines wanted Delilah to trick Samson into telling
her why he was so strong. They wanted to know the way to
overpower him.
If you love Delilah, please tell Delilah what makes you so
strong. Samson , if Delilah wants to lie you up and make you
helpless, how can she do it ?
When the love to the pagans is not love. The pagans confused
lust for love. Love seeks the welfare of others. Love is not
selfish.Love is unselfish. Lust is selfish. Lust seeks to
destroy.
Delilah did not love. She was selfish. She sought money by
betraying Samson.
And Samson said unto her,
If they bind me with seven green bowstrings that were
never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
So the Philistines brought Delilah seven bowstrings that were
not dried out. And she tied Samson up. She had some men
waiting in another room , so she shouted,
The Philistines be upon you, Samson.
There were men waiting in another room. But Samson broke the
ropes from his arms like thread.
Delilah pretended to be hurt at Samson's failure to tell
her the secret to his mighty power. She told him that
he was mocking her by telling her lies. She begged him to
tell her how he could be bound.
And he said unto her,
If you weave the seven locks of my head with the web.
And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him,
The Philistines be upon you, Samson.
And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin
of the beam, and with the web.
And she said unto him,
How can you say , I love you, when your heart is not with
me? You have mocked me these three times, and have not told
me wherein your strength lies.
And it came to pass , when she pressed him daily with her
words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death:
that he told her all his heart.
And he said to her,
There has not come a rasor upon my heart; for I have been
a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb. If I be shaven,
then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak,
and be like any other man.
And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart. And
he said to her,
There has not come a rasor upon my head; for I have been
a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb. If I be shaven ,
then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak,
and be like any other man.
And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she
sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, sayings,
Come up this once, for he has showed me all his
heart.
Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and
brought money in their hands. And she made Samson sleep
upon her knees .And she called for a man , and caused him to
shave off the seven locks of his head. And Delilah began to
afflict him, and his strength went from him.
And she said,
The Philistines be upon you, Samson.
And he awoke out of his sleep, and said,
I will go out as at other times before, and shake
myself.
And he did not know that the Lord had left him.
Many folks have failed to fill themself with the Holy Spirit
regularly. They think that they can go out as at other
times before with the strength of the Lord. But a surprise
will be waiting for them. The Lord has left them because
of their carelessness.
Samson was playing with temptation. He was trying to play
with Delilah until his soul was vexed to death. Delilah tried
again and again to obtain Samson's secret until she finally
made him yield his secret to her.
The worldly woman's desires was to strip the Nazirte of his
separation to God.The secret power in the believer's life
was his separation to God. The badge of Samson's Nazirite
separation was his locks of hair.
When his locks of hair were shaved off , Samson's strength
departed.
The Philistines took him , and put out his eyes, and brought
him down to Gaza. They bound him with fetters of brass.
Samson was chained with brass chains. And they made him work
hard . He did grind in the prison house.
THE DEATH OF SAMSON
(JUDGES 16:23-31)
But the Philistines took Samson , and put out his eyes. They
brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with brass chains.
And he did grind in the prison house. And his hair began to
grow again after he was shaven.
The Lord is seen in this book of Judges as warlike God going
forward to battle not for killing human beings, for the Lord
loves man. But the Lord is going forward against sin.
God was not merely clearing the Philistines out of the
Promised land in order to find a place for the children of
Israel. God is clearing the sin out of the land.
The Lord clearly warned the children of Israel that if
they turned to the sins of the wicked people they had cast
out, they in their turn should be cast out.
The Lord is a terrible enemy of sin, refusing to make truce
with it.
The purpose of the Lord is righteousness. His methods are
righteous. The Lord is fighting in fury against sin, in the
interest of man , so that man should not perish but have
life.
In casting out and destroying the wicked Philistines,
the Lord was waging war against the evil spirits who were
ruling these pagan nations.
The Lord is not fighting with flesh and blood . The Lord is
fighting against the evil spirits who are ruling the world.
Put on the whole amor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers , against the rulers of the
darkness of this wordld, against spiritual wickedness in
high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of
God, that you may withstand in the evil day, and having
done all, stand. Stand therefore having your loins girt
with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of
peace; Above all , taking the shield of faith, wherewith you
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the
Spirit, which is the word of God. (Ephesians 6:11-17)
The strength that Samson lost by sin, he recovered by prayer.
The Lord had prepared Samson for war against sin.
The Lord gave the armor of God to protect him.
The sword of the Spirit is the word of God.
Samson meditated God's word day and night while he
was in prison.
Samson acknowledged his sin. And he repented from his
sin. And he believed that the Lord is his Saviour. And he
accepted the Lord as his Saviour.
Then the lords of the Philistines gathered themselves
together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagan their
god ; and to rejoice; for they said,
Our god has delivered Samson our enemy into our hands
They thought that their idol Dagan had delievered Samson
into their hands. They didn't realized that God placed Samson
into their hands to destroy them.
When the wicked people saw Samson . they began to praise
their idol Dagan; for they said,
Our god has delivered into our hands our enemy, and the
destroyer of our country, which slew many of us
And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry,
that they said,
Call for Samson, that he may make us sport.
And they called for Samson out of the prison house;
and he made the sport. They made fun of Samson.
And they set him beyweem pillars.
And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand,
Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the
house stands, that I may lean upon them.
Now the building was full of men and women; and all the
lords of the Philistines were there; and there wereupon the
roof sbout three thousand men and women, that beheld
while Samson made sport.
The Philistines were trying to mock the Lord. They were
saying that the idol Dagan had delivered God's man ,Samson,
into their hand.
The Philistines were making fun of Samson a man who was
dedicated to the Lord.
And Samson called unto the Lord,
Lord God, remember me, I pray to you, and strengthen me,
I pray to you, only this once, O God, that I may avenged the
Philistines for my two eyes.
Samson had lost the eyes of his faith when he sinned against
the Lord. Samson felt that he had to prove to the world that
he had faith in the Lord. The most important truth was to
show that the Lord had received him.
It was a spiritual battle in high places. The Philistines
had their champion, the idol Dagan.
Samson trusted in the Lord to fight for him.
And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which
the house of the Philistines stood, and on which it borne
up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with
his left hand
And Samson said,
Let me die with the Philistines.
And he bowed himself with all his might;
and the house fell upon the lords of the Philistines,
and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which
he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in
his life.
Then his brethren and all the members of his father's
family came down , and took him, and brought him up, and
buried him between Zorah and Esthaol in the burying place
of Manoah his father.
Samson had judged Israel for twenty years.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen. For by faith the elders obtained a good
report.(Hebrews11:1-2)
It was by faith that Samson won God's approval.
But without faith it is impossible to see God ; for he that
comes to God must believe that God is, and that He is the
