PETER

Peter's life was filled with many highs and
lows. Perhaps that is the reason we can readily
identify with him.
Peter was quick tempered . He was impulsive.
He was emotional. He was easily aroused by
an appeal to adventure.
Before the Pentecost,Peter's life was inconsistent.
Contradictions was Peter's behavior.
There was a lack of stability in his behavior.
At times Peter was out of tune with God. At times
Peter did not understand the purpose for Jesus
in the world.
Matt 16:22
Peter took him aside and began
to rebuke him, "Never , Lord !"
He said. " This shall never
happen to you ! "
Because he did not understand the purpose of
the Lord,Peter would do the wrong things. He had
boasted that he would never deny the Lord.Then
Peter denied the Lord three times as the Lord had
fortold it.
Matt 26:69-75
Now Peter sat without in the palace:
and a damsel came unto him, saying,
Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
But he denied before them all, saying,
I know not what thou sayest.
And when he was gone out into the porch,
another maid saw him, and said unto them that
were there, This fellow was also with
Jesus of Nazareth.
And again he denied with an oath,
I do not know the man.
And after a while came unto him they that stood by,
and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them;
for thy speech betrayeth thee.
Then began he to curse and to swear, saying,
I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said
unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt
deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
Another time Peter putted his foot in his mouth
and said the wrong thing.
John 13:8
Peter declared ,
" Never at any time will you wash my feet !"
"If I do not wash your feet," Jesus answered,
" you will no longer be my disciple."
Only after the Pentecost ,Peter was helped by the
Holy Spirit . And Peter developed into a mature
believer.
