Moses
Many people remembered Moses as a spiritual leader
and a miracle worker , but only a few people
realized that Moses was also a writer for the
Lord. To Moses is attributed more than one-fourth
of the Old Testament. The writings of Moses
contribute about one-seventh of the whole Bible.
And his writings is about two-thirds as large as
as the New Testament.
The writings of Moses are most intimated bound
up with Christ. Long before the New Testament
existed, the early Christians valued and honored
the writings of Moses as Holy Scriptures.
Jesus placed His stamp of approval on the five
books of Moses. Jesus considered them as Divine
revelation. He also considered them as words from God.
Throughout his earthly ministry, Jesus quoted from
the Holy scripture . In the story of his temptation ,
Jesus rejected each of the prompting of the devil
with quotations from Deuteronomy.
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the
wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when
he was fasted forty days and forty nights, Jesus
was afterward very hungry. When the tempter came
to him, by saying, if you be the Son of God,
command that these stones be made bread ?Matt 4:1-11).
But Jesus answered and said,
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by
every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.
In Deuteronomy 8:3 , Moses wrote that God's might
make you know that man does not live by bread only,
but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of
the Lord does ...
This was Christ's scriptural answer. The source
of the bread is more important than the bread
itself. Jesus refused to work a selfish miracle.
He did not wish to avoid personal hunger when
enduring such hunger was part of God's will for him.
Then the devil takes Jesus up into the holy city,
and set him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said
unto him, If you be the Son of God , cast yourself
down, for it is written , " He shall give His angels
charge concerning you. And in their hands they shall
bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot
against a stone."
The devil , the slanderer, liked to misquote the
scriptures , and put them in a wrong context. He
was putting Jesus to the test> The devil wanted a
circus performance, a side show from Jesus. God
does not use His almighty power for silly
performance. God does His almighty power for a
reason. Only the devil does foolish performances.
Jesus said unto him.
You shall not tempt the Lord your God.
Jesus was quoting Deuteronemy 6:16.
Again the devil takes Jesus up into an exceedingly
high mountain, and shows him all the kingdoms of the
world, and he glory of them. And the devil said unto
Jesus, All these things will I give you, if you
will fall down and worship me.
What the devil offered did not belong to him.
Everything belongs to the Lord. The Lord created
the heavens and earths. All that is in the world
belongs to God. What can be given to God when
everything belongs to God ?
This time Jesus used Deuteronomy 3:16 . You
shall fear the Lord your God, and serve Him,
and shall swear by His name. Worship the Lord
you God and Him only shall you serve. Go away
Satan.
And the devil left him. And behold angels came and
angels came and ministered unto Jesus.
Jesus turned away the devil's mighty attacks by
using the written words of God which is available
to all believers.
The writing of Moses are essential for the
understanding of the rest of the Bible.
God' basic revelation to man came through Moses.
God's redemptive plan can be found in the writings
Moses. What was revealed by the prophets and the
godly followers of Moses was in agreement and
supplemental to the message of Moses.
For no prophetic message ever came just from
the will of man but holy men wee carried along
by the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message
that came from God.Moses was moved by the Holy
Spirit. He was carried along by the Holy Spirit.
God gave very positive guidance to his thought,
his message, his words, and his writings.
With regard to the writings of Moses, Paul wrote,
Whatsoever things written aforetime were
written for our learning , that through comfort
of the scriptures we might have hope.
The writings of Moses inspire hope to those folks
who read the writings. God was really the Author.
God was the Author who moved Moses to write what
He wanted. Christ Himself is the goal toward which
the thinking of these writings move.
The first main section of the Old Testament is
consisted of the five books of Moses. From the
earliest time these books was known to the
Christians and Jews by the name Torah or Law.
These books of Moses are also called by the
name Pentateuch. Pentateuch signifies
" a compilation of five"
The five books of Moses contains a multitude of
laws , a number of law codes, narratives , and
stories concerning events from the creation of the
and earths to the death of Moses. It also
includes the origin of the world and mankind, and
the fate of the patriarchs. It is the inspirations
of God and it is God-breathed. All scripture is given
by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
fpr reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works.
The Law discloses God's purposes and plans
for the ages and eternity. The main purpose
of the writings of Moses centers in
God incarnate in Jesus Christ, the Savior
of Mankind.
The writings bear witness to one God, the
Creator of heavens and earths, through Jesus
Christ,Redeemer of sinful.One continuous story
of human redemption is presented in the five
books of Moses. The unfolding of God's plans
and purposes is set through history, prophecy,
type and symbol. The unifying theme of these
writings of Moses is Christ.
Moses was guided by God in his writing. The
inspiration of God plsyed sn importsnt role
in his writing. The influence of God exerted
over Moses so that the words and thoughts of
Moses were that of God's choosing.
The five books of Moses have been written by
Moses under the inspiration of God.
The first book which contains the primal history
of mankind and the stories of the patriciarchs
is called Genesis.
Exodus , the second book , tells of the story of
the children of Israel , their flight out of Egypt
and sojourn in the wilderness. It also tells of how
God instruct them in the building of the tabernacle.
The third book is Leviticus. It contains the
regulations governing religious practice.
Numbers , the fourth book ,starting from their
sojourn in the wilderness is named after the census
of the tribes which took place in the wilderness.
Deuteronomy, the fifth book , contains the important
speech in which Moses summarises and repeats the
commandments of the Lord.
GOD'S PLAN
In Genesis ,Moses wrote that God in the beginning
created the heavens and the earths and man. And the
Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
And man became a living soul. And the Lord God took
man and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it
and keep it. And God's commandment to the man was,
Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
But of the the tree of knowledge of good and evil ,
you shall not eat of it, for in the day that you
eat thereof you shall surely die.
It was not good for man to be alone. And God made a
help meet for him.And the Lord God caused a deep
sleep to fall upon Adam. And Adam slept. And God took
one of Adam's ribs and made woman. And the Lord brought
her unto the man.And Adam said,
This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh.
She shall be called woman, because she was taken out of
man.
The Lord told them That they could eat freely of any
fruit from any tree except from the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil.It was a test of their
obedience. As long as they obeyed God's commandment,
God was their Master.
When they ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil, they made themselves slaves of
the devil.
From the very beginning the Lord designed man to
live forever. But man must satisfy God's requirements by
obeying Him. But man failed to obey God. Death was
the result of man's disobedience.
Adam tried to regain his former estate by using
his own human strength. Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves
together, and made themselves aprons. They tried to
cover their sin by some form of work.Man's self-proved
clothing was useless. God rejected those fig leaf aprons.
God rejected their plans of salvation.
It sound foolish to those who are perishing when they hear
that Jesus died to save them. The message about Christ's
death on the cross is nonese and foolish to those who
are perishing. But unto us which are being saved,
Christ is the power of God.
God will destroy all human plans of salvation no
matter how clever they may seem to be.God in His
wisdom made it impossible for people to know and
find Him by means of their human brilliance and human
cleverness. It pleases God to save those people who
put their trust in Jesus as their Savior. God sent
Jesus into the world , not to condemn the world, but that
the world might be saved through Him.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten
Son , that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life.
Neither is salvation in any other; for there is none
other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must
be saved.(Acts4:12)
When man broke God's law, the justice of God had to
demand the full payment of death from man.
For the wages of sin is death ; but the gift of God is
eternal life.(Romans 6:23)
God loves man and does not wish man to be separated
from Him. How can God express His love , His righteousness,
His holiness, and justice toward man at the same time and
still require the debt of sin to be paid?
How can God satisfy the requirements of His own
righteousness? How can God remain just and Holy and yet
declare sinners forgiven ?
Since it was Adam , the first man, who sinned, another
man have to be the permanent substitute for him. This
This man would have to be someone of God's choosing
This perzon has to be qualified to be the permanent
substitute.
But in order for this man to take man's of judgment and
be his sin-bearer, these things wouyld be true of him.
He would be truly and properly man. He would have to be
sinless. This man would have to bear the punishment of
God against all sin that would ever be committed. And
this man is Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is truly and perperly God. Jesus is truly
and properly man. In the person of Jesus Christ the Divine
and human nature are united.
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ
died for the ungodly.(Romans 5:6)
We are saved according to God's plan of redemption. Man's
willing to be saved is neccessary for his salvation.
God will for no one. It is God's plan to save us
through His begotten Son> Jesus is the way , the truth,
and the life. No man can come unto God except through
Christ Jesus.
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats
of skins, and clothed them.(Gen 3:21)
an inocent substitute of God's choosing had to shed his
blood to provide a covering of man's sin. Those inocent
animals had done nothing worthy of death, but in their
dying a pattern was established. The animal sacrifice
never took sins away. It only covered the sins temporarily
from the judgment of God.
God had planned that a permanant forgiveness of sin. God
never planned that His forgiveness would go on being
temporary. God's first promise of a Redeemer is recorded
in Genesis 3:15
God's promise is that the serpent
would be crushed by the coming Messiah.God promised victory
in Jesus Christ. The believers are assured of a blessed
hope of redemption.
For God so loved he world that He gave His only begotten
Son so that whosoever believed in Him should not perished
but have everlasting life.
The first two children of Adam and Eve were two sons.
They were Cain and Abel.
Cain became a farmer> When he came to worship, Cain offered
the produce of the earth. The Lord rejected the offerings
of Cain.
Cain's brother Abel , became a shepherd.When Abel came
to worship the Lord, Abel offered the best lambs of
his flock. And the Lord accepted the offerings of Abel.
Cain became jealous of Abel and killed Abel.
The worships of Cain and Abel are typical forms
of worships that are in the world. The worship
of Cain speaks of the bloodless religion that rejects
God's plan of redemption and tried to find favour
with God in boastful human works. It speaks of man's
selfishness and self-will, that lead to murders and
and destruction>
The worship of Abel points to a worship of God according
to the will of God. Abel worshipped in Spirit and in truth.
To have faith is to be sure of the things we fope for.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen. For by faith the people of anccient
times won God's approval.
By faith Abel offered uno God a more excellent sacrifice
than Cain, by which Abel obtained witness that he was
righteous. By faith Abel won God's approval as a righteous
man.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen
as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving
of his family. The ark Noah was told to build was a type of
Christas preserver of His people from Judgment. Noah had
obeyed God and built the ark in which he and his family
were saved. But the world of unbelievers were condemned.
And Noah became heir of the righteousness which is by
faith. Noah received from the Lord the righteousness that
comes from faith.
Noah found grace in the sight of the Lord because Noah
had faith in the promised Redeemer.
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death
and was not found, because God had translated him. Before
his translation Enoch had this testimony, that he pleased
God.
But without faith it is impossible to please God; for he who
comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
By faith Abraham obeyed God when God called him to go
out into a place which God has promised to give to him.
Abraham left his own country without knowing where He was
going. By faith Abraham lived as a foreigner in a new
land. He lived in tents as did Isaac and Jacob, who
received the same promise from God.
Abraham did this because he was waiting confidently for God
to bring him to the heavenly city which God has designed and
built, the city with everlasting foundation.
By faith Abraham sojourned in the land of promise, as a
strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and
Jacob, the heirs with the same promise. For he looked for
a city which has foundations, whose builder is God.
through faith also Sarah herself received strengthen
to conceive seed , and delivered of a child when she
eas past age, because she judged God faithful who
promised.
Through faith Abraham was able to become a father. Abraham
was so old and almost dead. From this one man came as many
descendants as there are stars in the sky and as many as
the grains of sand on the seashore.Abraham has faith in
the Lord to provide a Saviour for mankind.
Abraham was willing
to obey God to offer his only son as
sacrifice.
God had said,
It is through Isaac that you will have the
descendants I promised.
Abraham trusted in God. Abraham trusted that God
was able to raise even Isaac back death. But God gave
Isaac back to Abraham.
Abraham was to sacrifice a son , but that son was not
Isaac. Jesus was considered to be a son of Abraham.
Abraham had provided a descendant, Jesus , as a sacrifice
to take away the sin of the world.
By faith Abraham blessed Jacob and Essau concerning the
things God has promised. By faith , when he was about to die,
Jacob blessed the sons of Joseph , and leaning on top of his
staff,worshipped God.
By faith Joseph , when he was about to die , make mention of
the departing of the children of Israel ; and gave the
commandment concerning the bones to be returned to the
promised land.
BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART
The story of Moses is one of failure and weakness,
except when he ws strong and victorious as the result
of God's help. The greatness of the man can only be
accounted for in David's words.
The gentleness of the Lord has made me great.
It was also the gentleness of the Lord that made Moses
great. Many people make the mistake in thinking that
the great men of God have extraordinary qualities
strength and courage. These great people of God were
not different from ordinary folks, except their
faith in the Lord. And their faith is available
to any believer.
Man's strength and power can not do God's work.
Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egytians,
most advance civilization of his time. Yet Moses
could not deliver his people with his human strength.
When he was fourty years old , Moses tried to deliver
his people with his own strength, but he failed.
Moses was acting in his own strength . He was using
his human wisdom. Man's wisdom is foolishness to God.
Moses was not following the will of God. And the Lord
could not use Moses at that time.
Moses thought he could do something for his people with
strength Man's way always fails. The way of God always
succeeds.
Moses learned a hard lesson. Moses had to learn to trust
the Lord completely before God could use him.
By strength no man prevails.
God does not give His glory to another. God does not need
mighty men. God needs humble folks to prove the greatness
of their God.
Moses had trust his own human strength and his own human
cleverness. And human efforts failed him. Moses was out
of touch with God at that time.
So Moses fled. Moses rushed forward, thinking to carry all
before him in his own human strength. Moses did it in vain.
Moses was staggered with disappointment. Moses had to stop.
Moses became afraid, because God was not with him in his
human plans. Moses fled from the scene of his failure
to hide himself. Then Moses was hidden in the secret
of God's presence from the pride of man.
Moses learned to be humble before the Lord. Moses learned
not trust in his human strength. Man's strength will fail.
Moses could not do anything worthwhile in his own human
plans and human strength.
Moses had to learn to trust
in the Lord, before the Lord could use him. Trust in the
in the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, with
all your mind and with all your strength.Never rely on
what your think you know. Remember the Lord in everything
you do. And the Lord will show you the right way.
It takes a long time for a person to mature spiritually.
When I was a child , my speech, feelings, amd thinking
were all those of a child. When I was a child, I spoke as
a child. I understood as a child. I thought as a child.
But when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Moses spent forty years in the desert, learning to trust
in the Lord with all his heart, with all his soul, with
all his mind, with all his strength. It took Moses
to mature spiritually.
The Lord was instructing Moses , preparing him for His
rooting out from Moses, the human vanity and human pride.
Moses learned not to trust in his self confience. Moses
learned to trust and depend on the Lord. God was giving
Moses the valuable lessons in faith. For with God nothing
shall be impossible.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what
you think you know. Remember trhe Lord in everything you
do. And the Lord will show you the right way.
God dares not entrust His power to men, till they are
humble and emptied of human pride, are conscious of their
helplessness.
Moses learned to trust God at every step and looked up to
God for guidance and help.
It had taken many long years of lonely waiting and
learning before this strong and self-reliant nature of
Moses was broken down, shaped into a vessel meet for
the work of the Lord.
By faith Moses , when he was come to years, refused to
be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter. Moses chose rather
to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy
the pleasures of sin for a season. He esteemed the reproach
of Christ than the treasures of Egypt, because Moses valued
the reward of Christ. Moses by faith fosook Egypt , not
fearing the wrath of the Pharaoh. Moses endured suffering ,
as he had faith in Him who is invisible.
And when forty years were expired, there appeared to
Moses an angel of the Lord in a flame of fire in a
bush.(Acts 7:29-30)
Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see
God (Matt 5:8). The pure in hert are peacemakers
because they cannot rest satisfied when the people
of the world should separated from God by sin.Their
heart reach out for sinners with Christ's love and
compassion to save them.
Moses was filled with the Holy Spirit. Moses put away
from himself his own human will. Moses allowed the
will of God to work in his life. Moses trusted in
the Lord completely.
Only the pure in heart are capable of seeing God.
The heart must be purified by the faith of the Lord .
The personwith a pure heart hinks the Lord's thought.
He walks the Lord's steps. He does the Lord's work.
And he breathes the Lord's breath. How refreshing !
The fullness of the Lord dwells in the believer.
THE PASSOVER
Nine plagues had already passed and Pharaoh still
would not let the children of Israel go. The Lord
was to bring one more plague upon Pharaoh and Egypt.
The Lord gave instructions to the children of
Israel. each man must choode a lamb for his household.
And if the household was too little for the lamb, he
and his next door neighbour may share the lamb, in
proportion to the number people and the amount that
each person could eat. The lamb had to be without
blemish, a male of the first year.
The whole assembly of the congregation of Israel had
to kill the lamb in the evening on the fourteen day
of the same month. And they had to take the blood
of the lamb and strike it on the two side posts and
on the upper door post of the house in which the lamb
was to be eaten. They had to eat the flesh of the
lamb in the night, roasted with fire , and with
unleavened bread. And with bitter herbs they had to
eat it.They could not eat it raw, nor sodden at
all wit water. They had to eat it roasted whole,
including head,legs, and internal organs.
God warned that during the night the last
plague would strike . The first born in the
land of Egypt ,both man and beast was to die.
Only where the blood of the lamb had been placed
upon the door posts would the Lord passover.
And this day was to be a memorial for them.
Their safety and deliverance were not a reward of
their righteousness. They could not sve themselves
with their human strength. They were saved because
the Lord had mercy upon them. Their salvation were
a gift from God. By the grace of Gpd were they saved ,
through heir faith in the Lord. The paschal lamb points
to Christ.(1 Corinthians 5:7)
The lamb of God is Christ.(1 John 1:29)
The lamb was to be without blemish. The Lord Jesus was a
lamb without blemish. Christ was innocent when he was
sacrificed for us.
The lamb was to be slain ,and roasted with fire , pointing
to the painful sufferings of Jesus who died on the cross
for us. Not a bone of the lamb must be broken. this was
fulfilled on Jesus (John 19:33).
This points to the unbroken strength of the Lord Jesus
Christ.
And they shall take the blood, and strike it on the two
side posts and on the upper door post of the houses;
wherein they shall eat in (Exodus 12:7)
.
When they sprinkled the blood on the posts of houses,
they did because they had faith in the Lord. The blood
pointed to Christ who died for us.
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we
shall be saved from wrath through him (Romans 5:9).
For if , when we were enemies , we were reconciled
to God by the death of His Son , much more, being
reconciled ,we shall be saved by his life. And not
only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
(Romans 5:10-11)
By this act of obedience and faith, the children of
Israel showed that they had put their trust in the Lord.
Only where the blood of the lamb had been sprinkled on
the posts of the door would the Lord pass over.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are
in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit (Romans 8:1).
We must receive our spiritual strength and nourishment
from Christ, the Lamb of God.
We must feed upon the whole Christ. We must take Christ
and His yoke. We must also take Christ and His cross. We
must take Christ and His thorned crown. We must eat the
bread of life quickly .we must eat it in haste and quickly.
We must eat quickly because we are ready to travel, with our
sandals on our feet and our staff in our hand. We must eat
Christ, the bread of life, quickly because we are ready to
travel into the kingdom of God.
The unleavened bread is symbolical of the new life as
cleansed from the leaven of a sinful nature. The children
of Israel were to put away all the leaven of malice and
wickedness. They are to put away all the leaven of worldly
nature of malice and wickedness. They were to eat pure and
holy bread by worshipping the Lord and by walking in newness
of spiritual life.
Purge out therefore the old leaven, that you may be a
new lump, as you are unleavened. For even Christ our
passover is sacrificed for us. Therefore let us keep the
feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of
malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of
sincerity and truth (1 Corinthians 5:8).
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS
(EXODUS 20:1 ; DEUT 5:1-21)
Before a person can be saved, he must first learn that
he can not save himself by his own efforts and works.
Men must come to God to ask for mercy.
Before Moses brought the two tables of law down from
the mountain, the children of Israel had already broken
them, and was under the sentence of death.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life (Romans 2:23).
The law was designed to show man his inability to keep
God's commandments. The law shows man's inability to be
saved by his own strength. Man's righteousness is but
filthy rags.
The poor blinded children of Israel thought that they
could keep the law perfectly , They said,
All the words which the Lord has said we will do.
What man said he will do, he will not do because
he is a sinner.
Moses knew that man could not be saved by his
own works. So immediately Moses offer an atonement .
Moses realized that they could be saved only according
to God's plan of salvation. Moses offered the blood of an
inocent lamb as a sacrifice to God. This sacrifice pointed
to the Christ who has died for us. Moses built an altar and
asked God for forgiveness and mercy for them.
The Law was not given as a mean of salvation. The Law can
not save anyone. The Law was given to a people already
saved. The children of Israel was set free from their
bondage in Egypt because their faith in the Lord.
The Lord has already been given this Law to man before.
It was written in the heart of man. Its demand is love.
Without love , the outward obedience is merely hypocrisy
The first four commandments of the ten commandments
teach us how to love God.
The last six commandments of the ten commandments teach
us how to love our neighbours as ourselves.
These commandmnets are given to a saved people to teach
them how to obey the Lord and to walk in the way of the
Lord.
The first commandment .You shall have no other gods before
me.(Exodus 20:3)
The Lord our God is the only God. Love the Lord your God with
all your heart, with all your soul, with all all your
strength. We must worship only the Lord God.
The second commandment. You shall not make yourself
an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on
earth beneath or in the waters below.
You shall not bow down to them; for I, the Lord God, am
a jealous God, punishing the children of sin of the fathers
to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me,
but showing love to those folks who love me and keep my commandments.
God is merciful to those who love Him.
The third commandment. You shall not take the name of your
God in vain ; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that
takes His name in vain. Do not carelessly use the name of
the Lord. Do not use the name of the Lord for evil purposes.
The Lord will punish anyone who misuse His holy Name.
The four commandment . Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it
holy. Six days shall you labour, and do your work. But the
seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you
shall not do any work, you, nor your son, nor your daughter,
nor your maidservant , nor your manservant, nor your cattle,
nor your stranger that is within your gates.
The children of Israel were reminded that the Lord redeemed
them from the bondage of Egypt to enjoy His rest.
Jesus is the Lord of the sabbath.(Mark 2:28)
Jesus stands for spiritual freedom.
Christ Jesus has done everything for us, when he gave his
life for us and rose from the dead.
Blessed be the God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly
places.(Ephesians 1:3)
At the very outset we are invited to sit down and enjoy
what God has done for us. We are not to try and attain it
for ourselves with man's effort and man's strengthen.
For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves. It is the gift of God.(Ephesians:8)
You can do nothing to save yourself. By His grace God has
done everything for you in Christ Jesus.
For six days God worked and rested on the seventn day. The
seventh day became the sabbath of God. It is God's rest.
Adam was created on the sixth day.Adam had no part in
these six days of work, for Adam came into being only at
the end of the sixth day. God's seventh day was Adam's
first day. Whereas God worked six days and enjoyed His
sabbath rest, Adam began his life with the sabbath rest.
Because God's work of creation was complete that Adam's
life could begin with rest. There is no rest, unless we
rest in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now Christ had finished his work of redemption, that we
can rest in Christ. Christ has given Himself to toil and,br>
work until man's lost position was recovered. Christ has
completed the work of redemption. We need nothing to merit
it, but can enter by faith into the value of his finished
work. God gives us our position of rest in Christ Jesus.
God brings the finished workk of Christ and presents it to
us. Our life begins with what God has provided for us.
There remains , then , a sabbath rest for the people of God,
for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his work,
just as God did from His.(Hebrews 4:9-11)
Jesus said,
Come unto me, all you that labour and are laden, and I
will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart. and you shall find rest
unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
(Matthew 11:28-30)
Christ Jesus is the Lord of Sabbath> We are to rest in Him.
The fifth commandment concern our duties for our parents.
Honor your father and mother that your days may be long
upon the land which your Lord God gives you.We are to love
our parents.
The sixth commandment . You shall not kill. Human life is
