Psalm of Jesus Christ (42)

1 As the hart pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is your God? 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holy day. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. 7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of your waterspouts: all your waves and your billows are gone over me. 8 Yet the LORD will command his loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. 9 I will say unto God my rock, Why have you forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is your God? 11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. 1 As the hart pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is your God? The psalmist was thirsty for the Lord the living water. If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink , you would him and he would have given you living water (John 4:10) If anyone is thirsty , let him come to me and drink, He who believes in Me, as Scripture has said , rivers of living water will flow within them (John 7:37-39) Christ is the living God. Christ has life in Himself and of Himself. Christ is the Giver of life. For the psalmist who is connected to the tabernacle , there was an appointed place to appear before God There was longing to connect with God at the tabernacle. The unbelievers want to discourage the psalmist . in the moment of need , they wanted to make him feel that God was nowhere to be found. Where is your God ? 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holy day. The psalmist's painful memories brings further discouragement. When he remember these things, he pour out his soul in me: for he had gone with the multitude, he went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holy day. Remembering happier times made him sadder. He thought of the times of joyful worship in the house of God and not felt so distant from those joyful days. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. Why is his soul cast down ? Why is his disquieted feelings ? His answer to his problem is to stop looking to himself. His answer is to seek the Lord. He feels much better when his hope is in the Lord. He will not surrender to discouragement. His hope is in the Lord. He will praise the Lord for the help of His countenance. 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar. He abandons his troubles and seek the Lord. He remembers the Lord's help from the land of Jordan. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of your waterspouts: all your waves and your billows are gone over me. 8 Yet the LORD will command his loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life. He is bury deep in the Lord's water fall. Deep calls unto deep at the noise of God's waterspouts: all God's waves and God's billows are gone over .him Yet the LORD will command his loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with him and his prayer unto the God of his life. 9 I will say unto God my rock, Why have you forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? 10 As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is your God? He will say unto God his rock, Why have you forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? As with a sword in his bones, his enemies reproach him; while they say daily unto him, Where is your God? 11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Don't be cast down. Need to keep your hope in the Lord. Need to keep your confidence in the Lord.
